Sewer Line Replacement

Sewer Line Replacement in Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana

A damaged main sewer line can cause recurring backups, slow drains, unpleasant odors, and problems around your property. Although some sewer issues can be repaired, a severely deteriorated, collapsed, or outdated line may need to be replaced.

Felger Hart Residential provides professional sewer line replacement for homeowners throughout Fort Wayne, Bluffton, and surrounding Northeast Indiana communities. Our experienced plumbing team evaluates the condition of your sewer line and recommends a replacement method suited to your property.

Depending on the location and condition of the existing pipe, we can perform traditional excavation or trenchless sewer line replacement using pipe bursting.

Call 260-244-6328 or request service online to have your sewer line evaluated.

Signs You May Need Sewer Line Replacement

A single clogged drain does not necessarily mean the sewer line needs to be replaced. However, repeated or widespread problems can indicate more extensive damage within the main line.

Contact Felger Hart Residential if you notice:

  • Sewer backups that return after cleaning or repair
  • Several fixtures draining slowly at the same time
  • Sewage odors coming from drains or areas around your property
  • Unusually wet, sunken, or greener sections of the lawn
  • Recurring sewer line leaks
  • Frequent repairs to an older sewer line
  • Extensive corrosion, cracking, root intrusion, or pipe deterioration
  • A collapsed or severely damaged section found during an inspection

These symptoms do not always mean replacement is necessary. A professional evaluation helps determine what is happening inside the line and whether repair or replacement is the more appropriate solution.

Sewer Line Replacement Options

Every sewer line and property is different. Felger Hart Residential offers traditional and trenchless replacement options, allowing our team to recommend an approach based on the line’s condition, location, and accessibility.

Traditional Sewer Line Replacement

Traditional replacement involves excavating the ground above the damaged sewer line so the old pipe can be accessed and replaced. This method may be necessary when the line has collapsed, its route needs to change, or site conditions make a trenchless approach impractical.

Although excavation can affect portions of the lawn, landscaping, or paved surfaces, it provides direct access to the existing line and may be the most effective option for certain properties.

Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement

When conditions allow, pipe bursting can replace an underground sewer line without excavating a full-length trench across the property.

During pipe bursting, access points are created near the ends of the section being replaced. Specialized equipment moves through the existing line, breaking the old pipe outward while pulling a new pipe into its place.

Because the new pipe generally follows the existing route, this method can reduce the amount of excavation and disturbance compared with traditional replacement. However, trenchless replacement is not appropriate for every sewer line. Our team will evaluate the existing pipe and property before recommending this approach.
